P.S. I love you

Last night, we were all exhausted so me, Jordyn, Katie, and Marcella watched PS I love you.  Its a movie with Gerard Butler and Hilary Swank and it is a great sappy love story.  But most importantly she is a 19 year old girl traveling in Ireland who meets and falls in love with an Irishman.  Obviously, we all love this movie even more for that reason.

Part of the movie takes place in County Wicklow and in Glendalough (pronounced glenn-da-lock).  We didn't realize that when we watched the movie and we were super excited because that is where we went hiking today!

We woke up bright and early this morning and took a 45 minute bus ride to Glendalough.  We then spent about 2.5 hours hiking.  The hike was beautiful although parts were super steep.  It was worth it when we got to the top though!
Jordyn and I at the top!

After hiking, we were all pretty tired. But we ate our picnic lunch and then explored the area.  St. Kevin apparently founded the tower and monastary there to avoid his followers but instead of finding peace and quiet they followed him.  We also learned that in the lake there used to be a huge monster, but St. Kevin was a gentle soul and befriended the monster instead of slaying it, so the monster stopped being mean and scary and became good.

When we got home we all took a nap and then we went to dinner.  We went to Eddie Rockets which is just like Johnny Rockets.  A lot of our Australian friends wanted to go there, because they had never been to an American style dinner before.  They loved it, although they had a hard time putting away the massive burgers.  Thats how we do it in Americuh.

One thing I noticed is that the dogs here are very well behaved and are rarely on leashes. I must learn the Irish people's secret and bring in home with me!

Keeping up with the PS I love you theme, we went to the pub from the movie, Wahlens for a quick drink.  It was very lively and very fun, I would definitely go back.  It was an exhausting day, but it was very fun.  We have another busy day planned in the city for tomorrow.  I was so happy to finally see the vision of Ireland that I imagined with the green, the fields, the hills, and of course the sheep!
